Welcome to the Scholarship website for the ASWA Seattle Chapter. Our chapter is pleased to provide access to two sources of scholarship funds - the ASWA Seattle Chapter Scholarship Fund and the ASWA Educational Foundation (ASWAEF). Each scholarship fund has its own deadline date, application form and set of criteria. Please read the instructions carefully.

Scholarship winners for the academic year 2011-2012
The Seattle Chapter of ASWA is pleased to announce the winners of eight scholarship awards totaling $21,000 for the upcoming 2011-12 academic year. This brings our total awards since inception in 1962 to $248,120.
The awards were in laddered amounts to six different schools, including three winners from Washington State University, and one each from Seattle University, University of Washington, City University, Green River Community College, and Renton Technical College. We look forward to each student's participation in the profession.

We hope to have the opportunity to meet them all, perhaps at the next Scholarship Dessert Auction on October 19, 2011 or at our annual Student Night in February 2012. Congratulations to each of them!
Additionally, we have once again awarded $2,000 to Lindsey Borgens for the ASWA-Seattle sponsored Educational Foundation for Women in Accounting (EFWA) scholarship. Lindsey attends Central Washington University in Ellensburg.
Report from the Endowment Fund Trustees
The ASWA Seattle Chapter No. 9 Scholarship Endowment Fund was established to encourage, receive and administer gifts in perpetuity for the purpose of granting scholarships for college and post-graduate studies in the field of accounting.
During fiscal year ended June 30, 2011, the fund received $2,637.50 in permanently restricted contributions. The fair market value of the principal balance was $170,659.02.
The Scholarship Endowment Fund earned $4,516.59 during the year. This amount has been transferred to the Chapter's scholarship fund.
The trustees have continued to use the same investment management firm for investment advice. Karen O'Brien and Joe Hebert of TrueNorth Financial Services LLC have agreed to provide the trustees with investment management advice on a pro-bono basis. We very much appreciate their professional assistance.
Contributions, made payable to ASWA Seattle Chapter No. 9 Scholarship Endowment Fund, may be sent to the chapter treasurer or to Theodora A. Sherman, Trustee, 20411 13th Avenue NW, Shoreline, WA 98177-2127.

Scholarship Deadlines- 2011-2012 School Year
May 16, 2011 was the application deadline for ASWA Seattle Chapter 2011-2012 Scholarships.
October 1, 2011 was the application deadline for the December 2011 ASWA-EF CPA exam review class and certification scholarships.
