Welcome to the Scholarship website for the ASWA Seattle Chapter. Our chapter is pleased to provide access to two sources of scholarship funds - the ASWA Seattle Chapter Scholarship Fund and the ASWA Educational Foundation (ASWAEF). Each scholarship fund has its own deadline date, application form and set of criteria. Please read the instructions carefully.

Scholarship winners for the year 2009-2010
The Seattle Chapter of ASWA is pleased to announce the winners of five scholarship awards totaling $15,000 for the upcoming 2009-10 academic year. This brings our total awards since inception in 1962 to $208,120.
The awards were in laddered amounts to four different schools, including two winners from the University of Washington, and one each from Washington State University, Seattle University, and Western Washington University. We look forward to each student's participation in the profession.
Nhi Lac, Washington State University, $5,000. Melissa Cheesman (repeat winner), Seattle University, $5,000.
Megan Yeung (repeat winner), University of Washington, $2,000. Mariska Tantri, Western Washington University, $2,000.
Ashley Borek, University of Washington, $1,000.
We hope to have the opportunity to meet them all, perhaps at the next Scholarship Dessert Auction this fall or at our annual Student Night. Congratulations to each of them!
Additionally, we have awarded $2,000 to Kristine Wilson for the ASWA-Seattle sponsored Educational Foundation for Women in Accounting (EFWA) scholarship. Kristine is a senior at the University of Washington Bothell Campus and expects to graduate June 2010 with a Bachelors in Accounting with a management concentration.
Report from the Endowment Fund Trustees
The ASWA Seattle Chapter No. 9 Scholarship Endowment Fund was established to encourage, receive and administer gifts in perpetuity for the purpose of granting scholarships for college and post-graduate studies in the field of accounting.
During fiscal year ended June 30, 2009, the fund received $4,375.00 in permanently restricted contributions. The fair market value of the principal balance was $132,092.15.
The Scholarship Endowment Fund earned $5,344.77 during the year. This amount has been transferred to the Chapter's scholarship fund.
The trustees have continued to use the same investment management firm for investment advice. Karen O'Brien and Joe Hebert of TrueNorth Financial Services LLC have agreed to provide the trustees with investment management advice on a pro-bono basis. We very much appreciate their professional assistance.

Scholarship Deadlines- 2010-2011 School Year
May 15, 2010 is the application deadline for ASWA Seattle Chapter 2010-2011 Scholarships.
March 1, 2010 is the application deadline for the May 2010 ASWA-EF 2-year College Scholarships and Undergraduate Scholarships.
